FG-MLD – Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage
FG-MLD (Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage), also known as the Fill & Flush technique, is a specialised form of Manual Lymphatic Drainage used in the management of lymphoedema and chronic swelling.
FG-MLD uses gentle, precise skin-stretching movements and is based on ‘filling’ the lymph nodes and ‘flushing’ oedema away.
Treatment helps move lymph fluid away from areas where drainage is impaired towards functioning lymph nodes and drainage pathways.

- help soften fibrosis – thickening and hardening of the tissues that can develop with lymphoedema

Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT)
Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT) is a structured approach used to help reduce swelling and support the long-term management of lymphoedema.
DLT combines four key areas of treatment:
• FG-MLD (Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage), also known as the Fill & Flush technique – a specialised form of Manual Lymphatic Drainage using gentle, precise skin-stretching movements based on ‘filling’ the lymph nodes and ‘flushing’ oedema away.
• Multi-Component Bandaging (MCB) – specialist compression bandaging used to help reduce swelling and improve the shape of the affected limb.
• Skin care – to help keep the skin healthy and reduce the risk of infection.
• Exercise advice – movement and exercise used alongside compression to support lymphatic drainage and mobility.
For more significant swelling, I offer a DLT reduction programme of up to five consecutive treatment days.
The programme combines FG-MLD, Multi-Component Bandaging, skin care and exercise advice. Limb measurements are taken to monitor changes in swelling and guide treatment.
The number of treatment days required is agreed following your consultation and assessment.
