Reflexology

Gentle, complimentary therapy

Reflexology is a gentle complementary therapy based on the theory that different areas of the feet reflect different parts and systems of the body.

For example, the toes are associated with the head and neck, the ball of the foot with the chest area, the arch with areas of the digestive system, and the heel with the lower back and pelvic area.

During treatment, controlled pressure is applied with the fingers and thumbs to specific reflex points across the feet. This is more than a foot massage - the treatment follows these reflex areas and can be adapted to give additional attention to particular areas according to individual needs.

Reflexology is deeply relaxing and may help to support restful sleep, ease tension and promote an overall sense of wellbeing.

Each treatment is tailored to the individual, taking into account health, lifestyle and how the client is feeling on the day.

Session

Reflexology
  • Reflexology works on the theory that the feet ‘mirror’ the body which means all the organs and systems in the body can be found in specific areas on the feet which are known as ‘reflex’ points. By applying a gentle pressure to the reflex points, the nerves are stimulated, and impulses travel through the body to the corresponding parts of the body to have a healing and balancing effect.

Reflexology for

Conception

  • Preparing your body for pregnancy is an important step, and ideally, this begins 3 to 4 months before conception. For those trying to conceive, reflexology is a holistic therapy that can promote relaxation and ease stress. Stress is known to interfere with the delicate hormonal balance required for conception. Reflexology aims to help manage those stress levels, creating a more peaceful state of mind which could support natural conception.

Reflexology for

Pregnancy

  • Once you reach the 14-week mark of pregnancy, reflexology may assist in relaxation and help ease some of the common discomforts associated with pregnancy, such as nausea, back pain, insomnia, and general fatigue. While it’s not a substitute for medical care, reflexology can complement your overall wellness by offering a moment of calm and relief as your body changes.

Spinal Reflexology
  • Spinal reflexology is a specialized approach that uses gentle pressure on reflex points in your feet, each of which corresponds to a specific vertebra and spinal nerves located in your spine. By stimulating these points, this treatment can help you relax and support your body’s natural balance. The spinal cord contains 31 pairs of nerves that send signals between your brain and various parts of your body, including muscles, skin, and internal organs. These nerves are responsible for both movement and sensation (like pain, touch, and temperature). When an organ or system in your body isn’t functioning at its best, it can create tension in the related spinal nerve, leading to discomfort or pain that can even be reflected in the spinal reflex areas on your feet. In spinal reflexology, I will focus on these reflex points on the feet, stimulating them to encourage the body’s own healing abilities and promote overall relaxation. This targeted technique can be particularly beneficial for those dealing with back pain, muscle stiffness, or tension.

Reflexology for Cancer Care
  • Reflexology for Cancer Care is a gentle, adapted treatment designed to support people living with cancer, during treatment and through recovery. Using gentle pressure on specific reflex points on the feet, the treatment is tailored to your individual needs, taking into account your current treatment, energy levels and how you are feeling on the day. Alongside promoting relaxation, reflexology may help support general comfort and wellbeing when you are experiencing problems such as disturbed sleep, digestive discomfort, tension or tiredness. Treatment can be especially valuable at times when the body is coping with the physical demands of treatment or recovery. The aim is to provide a supportive therapy that helps you feel more comfortable, settled and rested, while giving your body time to relax. Pressure, positioning and treatment time are adapted where necessary, and a full consultation is carried out before your first treatment.
